With the 2016 Civic Coupe, Honda has played their cards close their chest, but has given an insight into the world of the new coupe. Apart from the front fascia, which bears close resemblance to a modern day sedan, the raffish acoustic glass windscreen, the dynamic roof and aggressive detailing impart a unique character to the Civic. C-shaped tail lights have also been installed to catch the fancy of many a car lover.
The Civic Coupe is set to be offered with two different engines just like its sedan sibling. The lower spec car will house a 2.0-litre DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, which produces 160PS of power and 186Nm of torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission with an anticipated fuel-economy rating of 7.5/5.7/6.7 litres/100 km. Mid and high spec models will be powered by a brand new 1.5-liter DOHC direct-injected turbocharged engine, with almost identical EPA ratings to the 2.0-litre i-VTEC unit.
The overall room has been enhanced to 237 litres which has resulted in the rear seat legroom going up by 12.7cm as compared to the Civic's predecessor. Speaking of the audio and connectivity features, new Android OS-based 7inch Display Audio touch screen interface and the Satellite-Linked navigation system lead the line.
New features such as the LED headlights, remote engine start, heated front seats and side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers and full-colour TFT centre console are also available as per the customer’s choice.
Honda has also spoke highly of the safety features of this new coupe that has a next-gen Advanced Compatibility Body Structure and the available new Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety tech. The car is set to go on sale in US by March next year but the lid on the prices is yet to be taken off.
